Connection Vistawall
The Grid-Strip is attached to the Segmental Concrete Panel at a panel anchor consisting of a special shaped steel plate. The panel anchor is cast into the concrete panel, so it extends from the panel back face. The panel anchor that is used with the SEW system has been used in the MSE industry for over twenty-five years and is a proven anchoring system. The Grid-Strip proximal end connection plate is passed between the dual panel anchor plates and is secured using a bolt set. The connection is a single point connector that allows the soil reinforcing to swivel in the horizontal plane to bypass obstructions in the backfill.
Isometric of Grid-Strip Connection to Panel Anchor
The panel anchor consists of a special shaped A1011 Grade 50 steel plate that is 2” in width with a thickness equal to 0.135”. The anchor is fabricated so there are two ends of the plate that are parallel and offset from one another by a distance of 1/2”. Each end of the plate has a 9/16” diameter centralized bolt hole punched in it. The parallel plates are fabricated into a flared, triangular configuration.
Isometric of Panel Anchor
The panel anchor is embedded into the panel a minimum of 4”. The flared, triangular anchor base is positioned behind the panel reinforcing. The maximum number of anchors that can be cast into one row of the 5 x 5 panel is equal to 15 and in one row of the 5 x 10 panel is equal to 31. This allows for the unique placement of the anchors to avoid obstructions and to accommodate many different load cases. The number of anchors is dependent on the number of Grid-Strip soil reinforcing elements that are required to be attached to the panel and is dependent on the project-specific requirements.
