System Components

The Vistawall System Stabilized Earth Wall (SEW) is a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall system consisting of precast concrete panels and discrete steel Grid-Strip soil reinforcing. The SEW system components include a reinforced concrete panel, panel anchor, Grid-Strip soil reinforcement, steel connection bolt and miscellaneous component accessories (i.e. bearing pads, filter fabric, adhesive, etc.).

The standard nominal concrete panel dimensions are 5’-0” tall by 5’-0” wide or 10’-0” wide. Each 5’-0” wide standard panel contains a minimum of two rows of two columns of Grid-Strip soil reinforcing while the 10’-0” wide standard panel contains a minimum of two rows, of three columns, of Grid-Strip soil reinforcing. The number of rows and columns of Grid-Strip soil reinforcing is project design dependent and will be specifically detailed in the shop drawings. The concrete panel is reinforced with steel welded wire mesh or conventional mild steel reinforcing bars. The steel panel reinforcing typically has a vertical center-to-center spacing of 3.75” for mesh, or 7.50” for rebar a horizontal spacing of 6” or 12” on center. The size and configuration of the panel reinforcing is dependent on the loading and can vary on final design.
